OnePlus Nord 2T Review

A significant number of consumers have grown fond of OnePlus for its spectacular performance-oriented smartphones. In a short span of time, OnePlus has become a choice to many and an industry competition. Furthermore, they provide near-flagship smartphones with excellent features and photographic capabilities at a fraction of the cost. The brand recently unveiled the OnePlus Nord 2T instead of releasing the OnePlus 10. One can say this is a great strategy considering the OnePlus 10 is a lower-flagship mobile device.

The OnePlus Nord 2T will enter the market on May 24, 2022, and is packed with modest specs increasing the overall functionality. Thus, providing an elevated consumer experience. Apart from that, some leaks and reports claim that the OnePlus 3 is already in progress and will be out soon. But that is a story for another day; this writing is a review of the OnePlus Nord 2T to assess whether it's up to the expectation.

OnePlus Nord 2T: Price and Availability

On May 24, 2022, the OnePlus Nord 2T will be available in stores with two hardware options. At $460, the entry-level model includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The step-up model costs $580 and has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Prices are pretty decent, and the tag does justice to what will come in the new smartphone. Furthermore, you can get discounts on pre-bookings; also, the handset will be available on Amazon.

OnePlus Nord 2T: Design

The OnePlus Nord 2T design isn't really the strong point of the smartphone. Furthermore, the OnePlus Nord 2 predecessor wasn't that smart-looking either. Thus, expect less in terms of design and visuals. However, there is a Gorilla Glass on the front and back surfaces and a metal-effect plastic frame. Therefore, the grab would feel good once you have it in your hand. Also, the hue palette consisting of Jade Fog and Gray Shadow appears uninteresting and plain.

Apart from that, the distinctive element is the squatter camera module. It raises the size of the circular sensor frames to something more interesting. The impact of the ultra-wide sensor being pushed up to the top of its mounting leaves the phone looking a little cross-eyed. Furthermore, the smartphone measures 159.1 x 73.2 x 8.2mm, practically identical to the OnePlus Nord 2, with a fraction of a millimeter or two. Moreover, it weighs around 191 grams. Although with a classic curved back, it will deliver an impression.

OnePlus Nord 2T: Display

Again, taking a lot from the OnePlus Nord 2, the display is of 6.43-inch AMOLED display. Furthermore, the screen is the same as the Nord 2, with the modest addition of twin ambient light sensors. The latter allows the OnePlus better to adjust the brightness of the display to your surroundings. Also, this is something a user will barely notice.

The screen is decently sized, with a fairly sharp 1080 x 2400 smooth but not class-dominating 90Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the color resolution is good, and it is very comfortable to operate. In addition, one can easily consume media material, thanks to its flat form factor and fast and reliable in-display fingerprint reader.

OnePlus Nord 2T: Cameras

The OnePlus Nord 2 T's rear camera hardware is identical to that of the OnePlus Nord 2. A mix of Sony IMX766 wide sensor with OIS, an 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP mono sensor. Furthermore, a 32MP selfie camera is also present. Thus, resolutions and photography results would be satisfying on this phone as well. Moreover, there is an optional AI helper that can enhance the colors, which some people prefer. Although, most people prefer natural results and unassisted images.

From the functionality point of view, you will get an incredible natural depth of field, clean edges, and natural skin tones. Furthermore, the AI is the significant change in the camera said by the OnePlus, which improves the quality of Night mode images in particular. Hence, consumers can get quality images at any time of the day. However, the main sensor undermines the 8MP ultra-wide camera as the light fades and fluctuates, making the tone paler. There is no telephoto lens, but the 2x factor zoom will do the job, thanks to the big, pixel-dense primary sensor.

The AI addition by OnePlus is an elevating factor as it levels out backlighting environments while keeping the subject well lighted. Furthermore, slo-mo videos at 960 frames per second are also supported.

OnePlus Nord 2T: Performance and Specs

Not everything is similar to the OnePlus Nord 2 in the OnePlus Nord 2T; the density is different. Where Nord 2 has 1200 chip capacity, the Nord 2T has a density of 1300. If you dig deep about it, you will know the difference between this upgrade. Furthermore, the production of Nord 2T used a smaller 6nm (vs. 7nm), which means that the Nord 2T doesn't heat up quickly and works more efficiently. Moreover, the downloads and installation time is reduced by 14%. Compared to the Realme 9 Pro Plus, the Nord 2T indeed outperforms the overall package of the Realme 9 Pro Plus. Again, thanks to a generous allotment of either 8 or 12GB of RAM, which is the kind of option you expect to find in the flagship tier.

The OnePlus Nord 2 T's battery life is 4500mAh, which doesn't hit the mark of 5000mAh that several cheaper phones provide. However, the charging provision is superior with the 80W charger and getting from 1 to 60% in just 15 minutes. Although the charging and other factors make it a near-flagship smartphone, OnePlus Nord 2T does lack wireless charging.

OnePlus Nord 2T: Software

The OnePlus Nord 2T comes with a custom Oxygen OS 12.1 UI, surpassing the Android 12. Furthermore, the excellent factor is that it offers two major Android updates and three years of security updates. In addition, it has OnePlus's own OnePlus Sans font and stylish always-on display graphics and wallpapers. Although, the app's menu and structure look more like Oppo. Plus, there is another feature like the OnePlus Shelf. Using that, you can drag a menu from the top right corner of the screen for weather updates, a step tracker, and various apps. This can be not very pleasant if you don't know how to use it and have too many notifications. But you can deactivate them from the device Settings.

Bottom Line

That was all on the OnePlus Nord 2T, and it turns out it is an excellent smartphone at that pricing. Furthermore, the release is just a couple of days away; thus, you should get your hand on pre-booking deals. Moreover, the primary aspect is the performance and the function, and the OnePlus Nord 2T is good in both.
